Syria: Camps
Late 2019 // The Al-Hol camp is a refugee camp in northern Syria, close to the Syria-Iraq border. The camp holds mostly women and children of killed or captured Islamic State (ISIS) militants. It is controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). In late 2019, the camp's population was more than 70 000 having grown from 10 000 at the beginning of 2019 after the SDF took the last of the Islamic State's territory in Syria in the Battle of Baghuz.
